Our Parkview Independent Living residents were out and about once again. We enjoyed one of Grapevine Texas’ hottest attractions, “The 2017 Jazz & Wine Train”. The train carried us through a few beautiful communities, people waved as we passed by. This event included: live jazz entertainment, two gentlemen played saxophones and rendered songs, such as the “A Train,” “Shout,” and “Watermelon Man” just to name a few. We were given a souvenir wine glass, then the fun begun. Ten different wines were selected from the Grapevine winery tasting rooms for sampling. Up first, The Bingham Family Vineyards selection called Cloudburst, 2014. A white wine with a smooth blend of Trebbiano, Vermentino, Roussanne, Viognier and Chardonnay with a medium body ending and a hint of apple. The glasses were raised up high and the wine seemed to be endless the entire time. We were also served a gourmet boxed dinner which included an Italian slider with fresh mozzarella, pepperoni, fresh basil and sweet Italian dressing on ciabatta. Toasted baguettes, black olive tapenade, genoa salami, goat cheese stuffed peppadews, gouda and white cheddar cheese, assorted fresh fruit, and spiced candied walnuts. Dessert Trio: bread pudding with caramel, lemon bar, and a brownie. I don’t know about The midnight train to Georgia, but the Grapevine train is awesome! We will see them next year.
