Let’s Take A Peek at Parkview’s Watermark University Course called “Word Games”

DSCF3767

Welcome to one of Parkview’s Top Secret Watermark University courses, led by one of our very own! This group always adds an element of suspense. Here at Parkview, anyone with a hobby or knowledge can create and celebrate with the Parkview Family. We will explore how learning happens. Keeping the mind sharp with Code Words is one of them. The process is simple: change each letter in your document to another letter in the alphabet, so that your new document is completely illegible. Your new, encoded document might look a little something like this:

Welcome to our world where politicians and military strategists have used simple substitution ciphers to encode their secret documents for thousands of years – even back to the time of Julius Caesar! The process is simple: change each letter in your document to another letter in the alphabet so that your new document is completely illegible.

It looks like a whole lot of nonsense, right? Soon enough, simple-substition ciphers were no longer enough to keep encoded documents safe from prying eyes, and those who wanted to keep their secrets secret moved on to more complex encryption methods. Just like the secret codes, we too are mysterious!

Code Words is patterned after the famous WWII code-breaking facility at Bletchley Park, England. The participants, known as Bletchley Park Irregulars (BIPpers), work as a group to break word puzzles. Don’t ask them how they do it – IT’S CLASSIFIED! Stop by Parkview and join in on the fun every Monday at 11:00am in our Game Room.
